"God Rested" by Andrea

Andrea and I have a tradition of painting the Easter sunrise to celebrate the Son-rise. However, the weather forecast for Easter Sunday was clouds and rain. So we cheated! I painted the sunset on Good Friday, and Andrea painted the sunset on Saturday. After all, you can celebrate the resurrection any day!

Before Christ died, He said, "It is finished." When God finished His work—both in Genesis and on the cross—He rested. Andrea's painting is titled God Rested because it was made on the Saturday when Christ "rested" in the grave. As Hebrews 4:10 describes, because of Christ's finished work, we can truly rest from our own works.
